Sugary Drinks make you fat!!

Hi there, in my last post I did say I was going to enlighten you on three things that make us fat. Midnight snacking was the first, well today I am going to share a little concerning sugary drinks.

We all love sugary drinks right? Just kidding but at least most of us like them, that I am sure of. What if I told you that refined sugar was the leading cause in obesity over fatty foods. Shocking I know but it is true.

Sugar is directly converted to fat by your body, so in simpler terms, THE MORE SUGAR YOU EAT THE FATTER YOU WILL BE!

Many people think that the main reason for weight gain is fatty foods, this is however not true, sugar is.

What is sugar?

Sugar is pure, refined carbohydrates derived from plants such as sugarcane or beet. The table sugar we eat is called sucrose.

So how does sugar make me gain weight?

When your sugar intake is high it increases the glucose level in your body therefore giving you an energy boost. So your bodies natural response to that problem is to release insulin which is a hormone designed to lower those sugar levels if too high and the lower your sugar levels, the more hungry you feel and the more you eat. These extra calories are stored in your body as fat (usually around the belly area.)

How can I reduce my sugar intake then?

There are a few things you can do to reduce your sugar intake and live a healthier life and look sexy all at the same time :)...

1) find out where most of your sugar comes from, is it from sugary drinks? sweets? cakes? chocolates? etc...

2) avoid cool drinks, they are unhealthy. If you find it hard to completely cut out soft drinks at first, then reduce your intake and drink more water instead, this will help maintain a healthy weight.

3) watch out for foods like the ones in the list below, they are very high in sugar levels....

-canned or packed fruits

-cakes

-pudding

-muffins

-sweetened breakfast cereal

-soft drinks and energy drinks

-flavored yogurt

Thank you for reading and good luck on lessening your sugar intake, I promise you will definitely  not regret it. Leave a comment and let me know what you think about the post, ask questions or alternatively drop me an email....... :)

The proof is in the results.....or pudding lol

Here are just a few pictures of myself that I took in the last month or so.....the purpose of this is to show you that I do practice what I preach unlike most fitness bloggers, I really do care about helping people achieve the goals they want. I think we can both agree that I am in pretty good shape So take it from someone who knows what they are talking about.

WHY DO PEOPLE GET FAT??

Hi there, you probably wonder what make you fat besides eating too many fatty foods...well there are a few other reasons as to why you are gaining those extra unwanted kilos. Over the next two days I am just going to highlight 3 of them.

1. Midnight snacking:

I know a lot of us are guilty of this one, its so convenient for us right? We eat in the comfort of our beds or sneak to the kitchen late at night and its you and the fridge full of goodies and one else. Sounds good but unfortunately it affects us in ways we do not like.

-this is how you gain the extra weight: Our metabolism is the rate at which our body uses energy in order for the body to sustain itself. So this means that whenever we eat our body obtains calories from the food and converts it into energy and we in turn use that energy to do our daily activities like run, walk, swim, exercise etc. So it is safe to say our metabolism works faster while we are awake and active.

So eating just before you sleep or in the middle of the night is bad because your metabolism works much slower while you are asleep due to your body not being very active, I mean you sleep for goodness sake, you do not need so much energy!

-from energy to fat: So your body obtains energy from the midnight snacks you consume and while you sleep, the body uses what energy it needs and the rest of it is converted to fat.

-help what should I do to change this?: Most people eat their supper at 6pm which is the standard time for most people to eat their supper, so you could do that too or alternatively eat at least 3 hours before you sleep because the body will probably be  able to digest the food properly in that amount of time, and another thing to consider is why you wake up late at night in the first place? why is your sleep disturbed?

I will cover more reasons as to why you gain unwanted fat in my next post and how lack of sleep can make you gain weight and how that problem can be fixed :)
