RIP to Mike Jenkins
Mike Jenkins, a big man and a true champion.
While in Dubai sometime last year I browsed through the shelves of a local supermarket when I stumbled across a stack of fitness and bodybuilding magazines that where for sale, now naturally I was drawn to them because such things appeal to me. I went ahead and bought one and boy am I glad I did.
I learned a lot from the magazine but then I also learned more about the sport of 'Strong man' and how it worked. Its is a sport where top athletes compete against each other by lifting irregular shaped objects and go through obstacle courses of some kind to prove who amongst them was the strongest.
That's when I was introduced to Mike Jenkins, a young but massive and very muscular athlete who took the competition by storm and he competed very well too. He was born on the 3rd of November in 1982 in a town called Westminster, Maryland.
Mike won the 2010 Arnold Amateur Strongman and went on to compete in America's Strongest Man competition later that year and placed 2nd.
In 2012 he was the overall winner of the Arnold Strong Man classic.
Sadly in 2013 he died due to some complications with his heart, he passed away on his birth month of November. He is survived by a wife and kid.
He will always be a champion and may his soul rest in peace.
